Gecko Bookmark Crochet Pattern Alterations 🦎🔖📖

Original pattern: Amigurumi Crochet gecko bookmark “Book-Gecko” by supergurumi https://www.supergurumi.com/amigurumi-crochet-gecko-bookmark (click here for link)

Materials:
– Aunt Lydia’s size 10 cotton crochet thread in green , white & black
– 1 mm hook

Pattern:

Followed pattern as written except the following

Body: (62 rows)

-add length to the neck, after head crocheted an additional 6 rows prior to increase (7)

-crocheted 62 rows between front and back legs (9)

-decreased on each end prior to crocheting legs (7)

Tail: (38 rows)

-crocheted 2 rows after legs, using only the stitches between legs (4)

-increase on each end after legs until you are at 8 (8)

-continue as stated in pattern

-decrease to 1 stitch for more of a point and fasten off

Jump ring: (added to attached to ringed agenda but could attach to zippers too)

-open a jump ring using pliers

-push through the 2nd row on each side of the nose

-close jump ring using pliers

Tongue:

-chain 8

-sc into the 3rd stitch from the hook

-sc to the end

-fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing

-push down jump ring and sew across nose

-fasten off, cut a small tail, thread through nose to centre of head (to hide tail)

-roll so the tongue curls

Eyes:

-Complete instructions for eyes twice to get a larger black eye centre

-Sew eyes with 2 or 3 stitches between eyes (rather than 1 as suggested), to get a more eye son the sides look

Other possible alterations:

-could make tongue longer and curl so able to lick own eyeballs (to get a more quintessential gecko look 😹)
